I’m Aaron the Filmmaker, a video creator based in Michigan. Above, is one of my latest creations and an example of my experience with Mackinac Island. I also have a love for aerial photo/video as a licensed drone pilot. Working with several businesses, large and small, as well as numerous individuals, I’m up for just about any creative video job that comes my way. Some of my latest projects include a two-season reality series, Blacksmith Boot Camp featuring Heartland Horseshoeing School (find it on YouTube); a project for Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry Service consisting of a 30-minute+ documentary of their newest vessel. Filming the build from start to completion was a real treat. Being trusted to capture these and other stories has been a huge honor.

In 2019, I was a full time Videographer and Editor for Grand Hotel (Mackinac Island, MI). After working all summer on location for the historic hotel, it’s nice to continue to work with the amazing island hotel and surrounding businesses as an independent contractor. With my experience in northern MI, weddings on Mackinac is another area I specialize in.

I’ve been in love with creating things since I was very young. Whether drawing with pencil and paper, recording original music with my handheld tape recorder, or making “cinematic masterpieces” with the family camcorder and my five brothers… I love it all. I eventually came to the realization that I was born to create. Because of this, I’ve had to make some big decisions.

In 2019 I quit my “smart” job with the United States Postal Service in order to finish school for a Bachelor degree in Television and Digital Media Production at Ferris State University and to pursue my dream as a storyteller. In some ways, I feel my calling is to help others tell a story that can only be told with this powerful medium we call video, and to do it with excellence.

“We couldn’t have asked for a more talented, personable, enthusiastic videographer to capture our most special day. We would recommend anyone to work with Aaron for any event – he was such a joy!”
